21 Years Old and Changing the Game

At just 21, Domenico Folino stands out as one of the youngest agents on football’s global stage. Based in Oakville, Ontario, he has already earned his official FIFA Football Agent License—an achievement that follows two rigorous years of preparation and reflects a commitment rarely seen at this age.

He explains that the preparation involved months of studying FIFA regulations, transfer systems, legal frameworks, and ethics in sport. He read books, took courses, and consistently stayed updated on industry developments. “Balancing this with university and competitive soccer made it especially demanding, but it helped me grow and stay committed.”

Domenico’s journey started not behind the scenes, but on the field. He trained in Spain, attended trials in England and Italy, and directly faced the challenges that confront young Canadian athletes abroad. “That whole experience opened my eyes,” he recalls. “I realized how difficult it is for Canadian players to break through—and I knew then I wanted to be the person who helps open those doors for others.”

Currently, he balances life as a McMaster University student, varsity athlete, and player for Sigma FC. Already armed with a PFSA Level 1 scouting certification and experience with a professional club in Iceland, Domenico is forging a unique path at an age when most are just starting their professional journeys.

Mentorship and family support have been key to his resilience and growth. He credits his parents and industry mentors for helping him push through challenges. “My parents are my biggest supporters,” he says. “They’ve helped me through every stage of this journey and reminded me to keep going, especially during the hard moments.”

Domenico’s player-centered approach sets him apart. He’s not just after quick contracts; he wants to build careers. “I’m not just looking to sign players—I want to grow with them,” he explains. “Honesty, transparency, and long-term commitment are essential values in an agent-client relationship.”

His vision is international and future-focused. Already connecting with Canadian Premier League players and youth prospects, Domenico is forging links between North America, Europe, and South America. “Football is a global game,” he notes, “and I want to help bridge that gap for Canadian talent.”

As a new-generation agent, Domenico fuses the insight of a former player with digital fluency and a drive to innovate. He admires agents like Jorge Mendes and organizations such as OPSM for their impact on the sport, and hopes to build a similar model grounded in empathy, strategy, and visibility.

When asked what makes a player truly stand out, he’s clear: “Talent gets you noticed, but mentality keeps you there. Discipline, humility, and resilience—that’s what it takes.” To young people trying to make their way in sport, his advice is just as clear: “Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Start where you are, be consistent, take risks, and stay open to learning.”

Looking ahead, Domenico aims to build a dynamic, trustworthy agency that helps Canadian talent reach the world’s top clubs and professional environments. “I want to create a system where Canadian players regularly move to top clubs, grow in professional environments, and represent our country at the highest level.”

Outside of football, Domenico is also passionate about combining education with ambition. He frequently speaks to student-athletes about the importance of maintaining academic goals alongside athletic ones. “You don’t have to choose between being a student and being ambitious in sport. Both can fuel each other if you’re disciplined.”

At 21, Domenico Folino is proof that determination and vision can open doors at any age. His journey is just beginning—but it’s already inspiring a new generation to believe in their potential, act with integrity, and dream beyond borders.
